Day 51 - Sidney has a new home

Wow, its a bitter sweet day around our house today. On Thursday, a really nice couple came to see Sidney. Mom left me and Tanner and Gizmo down stairs with Dad so they could spend quality time getting to know Sidney without us getting involved. Mom said they really liked her and she had a good feeling that this may be it.
Well I guess they called Mom on Friday and said they really wanted to Adopt "Crosby" aka Sidney aka Sid aka Sid the Kid. Mom was both really happy for her and sad cause everyone will miss her.. ok let me correct that, everyone but me will miss her. Ok well I might miss her a little, but don't tell anyone cause it will ruin my reputation as a tough guy.

They came to pick her up early this morning, they were so excited. It all went well, Mom said her good bye and so did Gizmo and off they went. Mom said she was going to a great home and that she is really happy about it.

Later this morning, it was interesting to see how Gizmo coped with it. It is definitely quiet around her. We got pretty used to Sid & Giz, running around and playing making lots of noise. Gizmo was playing with all the toys by herself, Mom was pretty happy to see that. So she seems to be doing ok by herself but they haven't left her alone yet. Mom said she will bring up the big crate upstairs so Giz will now sleep upstairs at night but still will stay in their room during the day. Oh and mom wants to take Giz to some puppy classes, she says its time to start some serious training with her. Whew, glad it's not me..
Anyway, I will keep you updated on what Mom is doing with AARCS and Gizmo as she grows and hopefully her Heart Murmur goes away as she gets older too.

Have a great day and I do wish Sidney the best with her new family.
Cheers, Kracker

Day 45 - Sid's Big Day at the Adoptathon

Sid asked if she could tell this post since I wasn't invited (again). I'm like ok sure, no prob, go for it.

Hi Sid Crosby here, I'm so excited to tell you about my day. It was really hard and scary at times. So we slept in until 6:45 Saturday morning. Mom was super happy about that. After playing and chasing my sister around the living room Mom finally started to get organized. When we went downstairs she had our crate out.. that is not a good thing, I ran back up stairs. But Foster Mom got me! But things were different this time, she put Giz in our room and put only "ME" in the crate. OMG I was not happy leaving my sister, last time that happened I spent the day at the vets and came home hallucinating. We got in the car and mom went to another Foster Mom's home to pickup her foster puppy Fletcher. Fletcher doesn't like the crate so Mom just put him on the front seat. He was really good didn't make any noise, even though I whined most of the way. When we got the Bowdog there weren't too many people and dogs yet but things were starting to get going. Mom put Fletcher and me in a pen together. Fletcher is a bit younger than me but he is more Giz's size. We really didn't hit it off well.
He kept wanting to play and barking at me and I didn't like that and would snap at him. Yikes, Mom wasn't happy about that and if I don't find my furever home this week she says she is going to find some puppy social play night for me. It sounds fun but I don't know. Soon the place was packed, lots of dogs/puppies and people, and noisy with dogs barking and beagles baying.Yeah, I learned something new, Beagles don't bark they bay, now I know why Kracker sounds so weird when he barks at me.
My pen seemed to have all puppies about the same age, I met Lola(?) Fletcher, Buster, Vanilla Ice and Perry. OK so I gotta talk about Perry, she is my sister but we don't look anything alike. She doesn't look like Gizmo either. But she is sweet and cuddly like we are. She has the same temperament as us, it was neat to see her again, its been a long time.
Here are pics of Perry! And yes she is still available as of this post.

Perry is cute, but hey we were all cute.
Mom spent a bit of time with Rupert, she liked him and he sat really well for treats. I'm still learning that. I cried a lot and tried to get out of the pen. So I also got held a lot. I'm pretty good at making myself look sad.. he he!!!
So there were lots of people that came by and hopefully a lot of dogs/puppies will get adopted from this. There were 7 different rescue groups and all the dogs/puppies deserve furever homes.
Mom took Fletcher and me home at 1, it had been 3 hrs there and more puppies were coming. We were tired too. I think Fletcher had a good time, Mom tried to get pictures of him but they don't do him justice. He is really soft and has these great big floppy ears.
When I got home, I played with Giz for a bit and then napped, I was tuckered out.

Mom says I need to rest up cause I have a family coming to see me on Sunday (oh that's today) I will charm them you wait and see. OH another note about this morning, It snowed a lot last night and boy Giz and I sure love the snow, its so much fun to run in and I always come in with snow on my nose and it makes Mom laugh!!!!

Here are some more pictures of Fletcher and some of the other puppies. Of course we move lots so they aren't great.

Day 41 - Gizmo

Well, things just don't go the way you hope sometimes. Mom took Gizmo to the vets yesterday morning. Mom was super impressed with her cause she didn't put up a big fuss when she didn't feed her. Giz likes to be held and cuddled so that is what Mom did with her while Sidney and Tanner and I ate our breakfast.
Well later around lunch time S brought Gizmo home and she had not been spayed. I guess when the vet re-evaluated her they said the Heart Murmur was stronger than what they thought and that being only 3 months old that there would be a high chance she might not wake up from the operation. So it was decided by AARCS not to have her spayed. Mom was pretty happy about the desision too. So they also said that puppies can grow out of the condition. So Mom figures we will just get her checked monthly and that she will live with us for awhile longer. Im sure as she gets older she will be more fun.. I was trying to play with her the other day but I think they are afraid of me because most of the time I growl at them. They just don't understand my play body language yet, but I'll keep working on it.

Sidney (Crosby) is going to be going to an Adoptathon on Saturday so if your interested in meeting her go.. it's at Bowdog - 6909 Farrell Rd SE, 10AM - 4PM
There will be lots of dogs there to see and play with.

Day 39 - Latest Adventures of Sid & Giz

So, lots has happened, its been a busy weekend for mom and the puppies. A wonderful family did come and visit but we haven't heard back from them yet. That's ok as even if they found a different rescue puppy, they all need homes. Saturday Mom took them to the vets, they got their 2nd set of shots which means soon they can go to the off leash park with us. I'm excited to show them my favorite place in the world, we have so much fun at the park.

Also we have good news, I know Mom hasn't mentioned it but our little Gizmo had a heart murmur, and that was why she wasn't spayed with Sidney. Well the vet says she still has a heart murmur but feels now that she is 12 weeks they can go ahead and spay her. So she goes in on Tuesday and if everything goes well she will be up on the website and officially up for adoption later this week.

Look at Gizmo's ears, she is starting to hold them up a bit.. not sure if she will have Uppie Ears or not but she is cute in this picture.

Sunday - was the big adventure for the girls. Mom told me all about it... She took them to a place called Spruce Meadows - its a horse place and they were having a Christmas Market. Well AARCS had a booth and Sid & Giz got to go and be part of it. I guess they were pretty scared, they have never been outside our house and back yard except to the vets. It was pretty new and scary for them. But they did really well and settled down, got to be held lots and meet lots and lots of people. Everyone loved them I guess... good thing I wasn't there cause I would have taken the show, cause I'm way cuter... ha ha!!! But Mom didn't take me :(

Mom said that she hopes with all the people that visited the booth, someone might put in an application for Sidney. Her fingers are crossed.

They had a really big day and when they got home, they played a bit and then crashed for a while. Mom tried to clean the house but they kept waking up and attacking her mop. They really hate mops, brooms or even the vacuum. It's really funny to watch them go for it.. makes me laugh and Mom too!

Everyone came over for Family dinner last night.. I always love these dinners, cause I get lots and lots of attention. But with these puppies, I get a bit less attention but my BFF came too and Cooper and I had fun hangin together. They were so tired, Giz actually has some funny sleeping pictures taken of her.

Day 35 - Sidney has a family coming to visit

So Sidney had someone put in an application for her and the family is coming to visit tonight. Mom has already warned Tanner and me that we may have to go downstairs for a bit. She is afraid we will try to take all the attention for us and not let them see Sid.. ha ha!!! She knows us so well. Hey but I'm really happy for Sidney, while I know they may not pick her, the cool thing is that they want to rescue a dog which is a win win all the way around for whichever dog they end up taking home. But let me tell you Sidney is becoming even more cute. The different personalities are shining through. Sid hates to be alone and will follow you all over the place and will fall asleep near your feet or on your foot if mom stays still long enough. She also gives you face washes, me included.. I still hate puppy kisses. Boy does Sidney love to give lots and lots of kisses. Gizmo, loves to cuddle and will give kisses but is more of a hugger, she wraps her paws around Mom's neck and hugs with the odd little kiss. She still give me lots of kisses though.. yuck!!! When she is tired, she goes into my bed under the counter and falls asleep. Mom thinks its so cute. They are scheduled for their 2nd set of shots on the weekend so they will be able to go for little walks but still no dog park.

Oh hey here's a funny story. They discovered my big bed downstairs, I mean big its huge and I love it. Mom couldn't find them upstairs and so she went downstairs and there they were wrestling on my bed. They loved it, its so big they can wrestle like crazy all over it. So Mom went out to Costco last night and bought me a new one for downstairs and the old one is upstairs. At least I know that when the puppies aren't around I can sleep on it too. mmmm I love this bed!

Ha ha!!! another funny thing happened last night, Mom also brought home collars for them.. a red one for Sid and a pink one for Giz. You should have seen them when she put them on.. they were scratching it, and rolling around the dog bed trying to get them off. They had no idea what they were all about. I tried to tell them that collars are a great thing cause they always mean we get to go to the park when they are put on.. yippee. I guess they will figure that out on their own cause they weren't listening to me.

No pictures today as mom did not get any good ones. She was complaining how hard it was to take pictures of moving puppies. Maybe tonight we will get some.

Anyway wish Sidney luck with the family coming to see her. I know Mom & Dad will miss her but it will be a happy day to see her go to a loving family of her own.

Day 26 - Sidney is up for Adoption now

So, last Friday Sid went to that big awful place and she was gone all day. I actually felt sorry for Gizmo and let her play with us. Oh the other big news, which makes me all happy is my cousin Cooper is visiting us for a week. His Mom went away on a vacation so we get to have him over. We play and play and play. Actually after a few days I'm so pooped I have to have a rest. Cooper is only a year old so has way more energy than I do. But boy do we have fun, fun, fun.

OK - back to what this blog is really about.. So we let Gizmo play with us and try to catch us when we were running around the house. Mom says she is a real suck without her sister.
Sidney came home late that night but all she wanted to do was sleep. Gizmo even knew something was up and left her alone to sleep. Next morning though, Sid was BACK!!!

Because Sidney has been spayed she officially goes up for adoption and is on the website at AARCS. I know that Mom really hopes she finds a great home and soon.

Their news trick it to both sit and bark in Coopers face. He is way better with the puppies than I am but really, having 2 puppies barking in your face is not fun and you should see the look on his face.. it makes me laugh. They are telling Mom they want outside fairly regular but they still make mistakes. She is also starting to make them sit for things. I'm really good at that and I can shake a paw too
Mom doesn't have too many pictures of Cooper but she is posting one of his cute face and one of him and Tanner playing Tug-O-War.

Day 21 - Getting Big

Boy Mom really does suck at this blogging thing, look how long its been since she asked me what I wanted to say.
I still don't like all this puppy stuff but every once in awhile I'm sneaky enough to eat their food. It makes Mom really mad but hey, I don't think she feeds me enough. Ha ha.

So what has been happening since our last post. Wow, have Sid & Giz gotten bigger. They are growing like weeds. And do they play hard, they wrestle with each other and make lots of noise. They are even playing tug-o-war with each other. I want to play with them but I'm still not ready. Whenever I get near them they just jump at my face and want to kiss me.. ewww, yucky puppy kisses. Not my thing!!!! Mom seems to like them, not sure how she can, it grosses me out.

Mom is still putting them outside lots and it seems to be working, the other day Gizmo actually went down the stairs and was whining at the door to go outside.. I thought Mom was going to explode she was so excited. They really like it outside and will play out there for a long time, chasing each other around the garbage can and having lots of fun. Mom says they must have a really good fur coat since the cooler weather doesn't seem to bother them at all.

Mom has some updated pictures of them... enjoy! Oh I keep forgetting to tell if you haven't guessed yet. The white puppy is Gizmo and the Black one is Sidney.

Sid & Giz - Day 8

OK, Mom isn't very good at this blog thing. She is blaming the puppies, saying she doesn't have time when they are awake. I have to admit they are pretty busy. But lots of stuff has happened. Sid was the first to get up the stairs from the back door. she just whizzed up them. The next day Giz was right behind her. They still don't go down the stairs, unless they fall but Mom is pretty careful to block the stairs.
Im slowly starting to like them just a little. I will spend some time in the same room and do my chase pose. they haven't figured out yet to chase me. Soon I hope.
S brought Cooper over the other day, so we got to play, he is my BFF as well. He seemed to like Sid & Giz.
Tanner still likes them and even let Giz climb all over him, it was pretty funny watching him.. Mom even took pictures.

We finally got a picture of Gizmo & Sid's MOM, she is pretty but she doesn't like to get her picture taken that's for sure. They must look like their DAD cause they sure don't look like MOM.

So its been 1 week and its going ok I guess.

Day 2 - Giz & Sid

So the kids had a good night sleep and so did I, they did not wake up until early morning when I was checking out the kennel. Mom was so happy, she was worried all night and actually got up and checked on them but they were sound asleep. I got them up at 5:30 cause I was hungry.. he he!!! These puppies might come in handy for something yet... Mom sure got up fast!!!

Mom changed Crosby's name today, she decided that Crosby was just to much and a boys name so Sidney it is but we call her Sid for short and we shortened Gizmo to just Giz, it's much easier. Mom sure is having fun with them. All I see is that she spends alot of time on the floor and then going outside with them. Tanner is still trying to be the hero and hang out with them, but he just wants to steal the toys again.

Mom says that Giz is the laid back one and she will go into her kennel on her own to sleep when she is tired, Sid on the other hand, she is a handful. She might be small but she is go - go - go. And noisy. Well they both can be noisy, wow, you should hear the racket they make when they are hungry. Mom made a big mistake and and didn't put their food to soak over night. Well we had to listen to them for 1.5hrs. It was funny though since Giz actually does a little howl.. maybe I will join her one day... I like to howl too.

Well we made it through the first full day. I just stayed out of the way. It was easier that way.

Day 1 - Crosby & Gizmo arrive

What the heck are these things... they sure are small and smell funny. I don't think I like them... Tanner seems to be more interested in them than me.. actually I think Tanner just wants to steal the new toys, he really doesn't like them either.

I think I will just go and hide and watch from afar. They sure do seem to like Tanner, Crosby keeps crawling all over him. Mom thinks that they think he is their MOM.. how funny is that. "not the mamma" ha ha!!!!

Shayra & Shelli came over to see them and of course give me pets too. Shelli is my new BFF since she looked after us and gave me lots of attention. They really like the puppies too. Im not too happy about that!

Whew they finally went to Sleep, now its my turn for some LOVE.

Fostering for Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society

Hi There,
Im Kracker and my Mom has promised to write about our adventures in fostering for AARCS. Im a rescue dog myself, yup that's right. I was wondering the streets of Canmore very lost and lonely when I was found and taken to the Bow Valley SPCA. They were so nice there, I had my own little room and lots of people to give me attention. My Mom was looking for a smaller dog to be company to Rocky and she picked me. I was on my best behavior when she took me home. Rocky wasn't too sure and gave me a few growls, but I just growled back and told him I was staying I liked my new Mom. My old life wasn't very good, I was left alone lots and developed some bad habits. I love to chew and I was really fond of baseboards and other furniture, the odd shoe was pretty good too. Wood though was the best. After about 3 weeks I finally started to be me and the temptation to chew was just too great.
Mom was not happy so she had to put me in a kennel - OMG kennels are evil and I hated it and was so scared that I chewed thru that kennel. Anyway long story short with lots of exercise, chew toys, bones and love I now rarely chew anything that Im not allowed to and its been a few years now. Every once in awhile if I get too stressed out I will chew something but I know I'm not supposed to.

We then moved in with Mom's boyfriend who had 2 dogs, Tanner and Touchdown. I love these dogs but Rocky didn't. He hated Tanner so had to go live with my cousin Kitta. He is way happier there and I still get to visit with him and go camping with him so that's ok.
Touchdown was old and he left us last year so now its just Tanner and me. But we are best budds, my Mom calls us Mutt & Jeff, Im not sure why.

We do everything together and so yes we will be fostering together as well. Mom has been cleaning out the little room in the basement and telling me we are getting visitors but Im not sure what all the fuss if about. I guess we will see.
She showed me a picture of the two puppies that are going to be staying with us. Boy I hope they don't bug me too much! They sure are cute though.
