Hi There,
Im Kracker and my Mom has promised to write about our adventures in fostering for AARCS. Im a rescue dog myself, yup that's right. I was wondering the streets of Canmore very lost and lonely when I was found and taken to the Bow Valley SPCA. They were so nice there, I had my own little room and lots of people to give me attention. My Mom was looking for a smaller dog to be company to Rocky and she picked me. I was on my best behavior when she took me home. Rocky wasn't too sure and gave me a few growls, but I just growled back and told him I was staying I liked my new Mom. My old life wasn't very good, I was left alone lots and developed some bad habits. I love to chew and I was really fond of baseboards and other furniture, the odd shoe was pretty good too. Wood though was the best. After about 3 weeks I finally started to be me and the temptation to chew was just too great.
Mom was not happy so she had to put me in a kennel - OMG kennels are evil and I hated it and was so scared that I chewed thru that kennel. Anyway long story short with lots of exercise, chew toys, bones and love I now rarely chew anything that Im not allowed to and its been a few years now. Every once in awhile if I get too stressed out I will chew something but I know I'm not supposed to.
We then moved in with Mom's boyfriend who had 2 dogs, Tanner and Touchdown. I love these dogs but Rocky didn't. He hated Tanner so had to go live with my cousin Kitta. He is way happier there and I still get to visit with him and go camping with him so that's ok.
Touchdown was old and he left us last year so now its just Tanner and me. But we are best budds, my Mom calls us Mutt & Jeff, Im not sure why.
We do everything together and so yes we will be fostering together as well. Mom has been cleaning out the little room in the basement and telling me we are getting visitors but Im not sure what all the fuss if about. I guess we will see.
She showed me a picture of the two puppies that are going to be staying with us. Boy I hope they don't bug me too much! They sure are cute though.
